ABOUTCOLONEL BENITA BECKLES

Benita worked in city government for over 20 years. She worked for the City of Detroit and the City of Phoenix.

She served thirty years as a commissioned officer in the Air Force (7 years active duty/23 years in the reserves) achieving the rank of Colonel. As an officer she was responsible for security forces, human resources, family support, IT, supply, food services, recreation, transportation/logistics and civil engineers.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

She is a Commissioner and Vice Chairman on the Goodyear Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission and a member of the Goodyear Community Action Network (CAN), which discusses national and local issues related to law enforcement with the Goodyear Police Department. As a member of CAN, she participated in the Goodyear Fentanyl Summit in January 2023.

She is a Precinct Committee person in Estrella.

She is a member of the Archer-Ragsdale (Arizona) Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen Inc., Military Officers Association of America (Luke Chapter) and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

She is a Board Member for the Southwest YMCA in Goodyear AND Board Member for the Arizona State University (ASU) West Campus - Pat Tillman Veterans Center

EDUCATION

Benita Beckles has a master's degree from George Washington University and a bachelor's degree from Hampton University.

She completed the Goodyear Leadership and Development program (LEAD) and Goodyear Citizens Police Academy in 2022.

FAMILY

Benita has two sons and five grandchildren. One son and family reside in Michigan and the other son recently accepted a job in Miami and will soon move his family to Florida from the island of Curacao.
